From student to craftsman

For Hassan, drawing and carpentry belonged together. With encouragement from his teachers at Tahaddi, he pursued vocational training and developed his skills through practical work. His relationship with the organisation continued as he returned to make furniture for the place where he had studied.

Diakonie’s January 2024 profile describes classroom tables, shelves, cabinets, and a commission to furnish Tahaddi’s youth centre. These were opportunities to put his craft to work in familiar spaces.

Building a business

At Bedayati, Hassan strengthened the skills behind his workshop: English, digital literacy, communication, and entrepreneurship. Its 2024 Impact Report features his account of the training and a carpentry internship, alongside support for acquiring his own tools.

Passing the craft on

Hassan also became a carpentry trainer at Tahaddi. The organisation’s public posts show him guiding young makers through hands-on projects. Its story about the 2024 local fairs highlights a multicoloured wooden stool he made for the Atelier’s display.
